Searching for a Patient
As soon as you type the first few letters of the last name, the browser is narrowing your search to match what you typed. You can then choose to double click on a line to get the chart or highlight the line with the keyboard arrows and click on "OK" or the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
Search Options
On the right side of the window, you can define the order of presentation of the records. There is 6 possible forms to design the search. If you select Patient's ID, then the search text to enter must be ID numbers. If you search by date of birth, the field will change to accept a date. The format for the date is MM/DD/YYYY. You will get results only if this is an existing date of birth in the system file. If you search by phone number, you will get a list of all the patient whose phone number starts with your entry. If there is no record with your criteria, a red message will appear "Not Found".
There are also filters to narrow your search to only patients of a specific hospital affiliation. Or you can restrict the views to only Active patients, Monitoring room patients only, Anonymous (donors) only or Women only. When you select a filter, a red square with the letter " F " in green will show just to the left of the patient picture in the chart. This is to advise the user that the system is in filter mode and that navigation will cover only the filtered records. If you want to remove the filter, just go back in the search windows, which automatically reset the filtering. You can also search by Anonymous ID if you use the donor privacy option of FertiSoft. (See Donors in Medical Info).
The 3 buttons and the "Date to search for:" are used for the teamwork processing (See Automation System). These buttons are to search for next patient to process by each team member. They bring up the chart of the patient that needs orders from the physician, needs review or needs to be notified.
The search window is a very powerful tool to find a patient fast and efficiently!
